Global Partners General Director Praises First International Conference

Dr. H. C. Wilson, general director of Global Partners, said of the first International Conference of The Wesleyan Church (ICWC), "They came from more than 75 countries. They represented a wide range of cultures, languages, customs and ministry experiences. They came from established General Conferences in North America, the Philippines, and the Caribbean. They came from strong historic mission units and from fledgling developing units. They came from places of great harvest and from places of great hardship. They were delegates to the first ever International Conference of The Wesleyan Church. I was honored to be one of them."

International conference sessions were held June 4-7, prior to the North American General Conference, in Orlando, Florida. Wilson added, "The ICWC will be governed in the interim between the quadrennial conferences by an international board of 25 members representing every area of the Wesleyan world. An executive committee of nine members was elected coming from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, the Philippines, and North America. Dr. Carlston Christie, General Superintendent of the Caribbean General Conference, was elected as Chair of the ICWC.

"The ICWC culminated with the All Nations Celebration under the theme 'The Story Goes On.' The majority of the North American General Conference delegates joined the ICWC delegates for an inspiring and moving evening as we celebrated the favor of the Master on the ministry of our worldwide church."
