Wesleyans Active in Community Based Ministry
Two churches—and many more besides—are living out the mission Jesus modeled for the Church: serving and meeting the needs of people.
Two Local Churches
CrossLink Community Church of Grove City, Ohio, held a “Merry Mobs” outreach during the 2008 holiday season where they provided hot drinks for “Black Friday” shoppers, gave free haircuts, and helped restock a local food pantry. First Wesleyan of Nashville, Tenn., has a Sunday morning average attendance around twenty, but hundreds gather at midweek for a free meal and church service.
Many other Wesleyan churches across North America are connecting with community residents as a way to bring individuals into local churches, to give them the opportunity to hear the gospel. Examples of outreach ministries include disaster response, ESL classes, sports ministry, grief counseling, prison ministry, food pantries, and addiction recovery.
