The Ultimate Promise-Keeper

Genesis 9:11-16

I establish my covenant with you. (Gen. 9:11)

WE LIVE IN A WORLD where promises are given freely and often, but are rarely kept. New products promise amazing results, leaders promise change, and children promise to clean their bedrooms. Too often these promises (among thousands of others) are forgotten or ignored. It can be discouraging. So, whom can we trust to keep promises? The answer may appear simple and obvious, but it's the truth. God has always kept His promises and He will continue to do so forever. In Genesis 9:11-16, God says "never again" three times. Never again will all life be cut off; never again will a flood destroy the earth; never again will the waters of the earth destroy all life. God said "never again" and He meant it. He made a covenant with Noah. A covenant is a solemn agreement. It's completely and totally binding for all parties involved. God said that this was a covenant for all generations. He even provided a sign of His covenant, a rainbow to remind Noah and his family (and the rest of us) of His promise. God remains true to His Word. He can do no other because then He would cease to be God. When God says "never again," He means never again. Take comfort in His faithfulness to Noah. Take comfort in His faithfulness to you, His child . . . His beloved.
