Duh!

Psalm 77

I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. (Ps. 77:11)

DUH! HAVE YOU EVER HAD one of those "Duh!" moments? Like the time you realized the remote for the TV wasn't working because there weren't any batteries in it? Duh! Or when you stopped trying to push the door open because you finally saw that it said "Pull"? Duh! Or maybe it was more serious in nature, like when you finally figured out the love language of your spouse. Duh! David seems to have one of those moments in this psalm. He begins the psalm in despair. Something was wrong; something was really bothering him. Had God forgotten him? Was God angry? Had God broken a promise? David appears to be consumed with the situation. But something happens in verse 10. It's as if someone flipped on the light switch in David's head when he says, "I will remember the deeds of the LORD." It's like he said, "Duh! I know how to feel better about my situation! I can recall all that God has done!" All the questions and turmoil of the first seven verses were put to rest as David reminded himself of all God had done: He performed miracles, He redeemed people, He led His people out of Egypt, and more. In your moments of despair and distress, recall the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord. May you be blessed with a "Duh!" moment.
