Comfort in His Promise
Psalm 33:16-22
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. (Ps. 33:18)
OUR TEENAGE SON HAD HIS first seizure when he was thirteen. Tests were completed and Bryan was started on a medication, yet the episodes continued. All our family could do was pray. And how we prayed! Because the seizures didn't stop and continue to this day, does that mean our prayers weren't answered? Now, years later, I see how God chose to answer those prayers; our son's life has been preserved in spite of the epileptic seizures. The "eyes of the LORD" refer to God's care and oversight of our lives. Because He values those devoted to Him, He watches over us. Being confident of this, in desperate situations, we hope in God. Hope is more than a wish. Biblical hope is based on a sure foundation, Bible promises. Nothing happens to believers unless it is His will. Is it wrong to use human means to help solve our problems? No, but it is a mistake to trust these more than God or leave Him out of the problem-solving process. What does God see with His eyes? He sees our faith. He takes note of our trust in Him. The answer to our prayers may not be as we hoped, yet we are assured there is never a time when we aren't on God's mind. His care extends to our every need.
