Best of the Best
Daniel 1:8-20
In every matter of wisdom and understanding . . . he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. (Dan. 1:20)
MOST OF US FALL into the category of "average." We all had dreams of being at the top of our field, the head of our company, or the best in the league. Somewhere in the midst of life most of us came to terms with being a "regular" person. Daniel took a different approach. He trusted God to raise him to a higher level. God made him successful in the eyes of King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel knew that if he stood firm in his beliefs and relied on his faith, the Lord would do the rest. Daniel did not boast about his ability to explain visions or to sustain himself on vegetables and water alone. He gave God the credit and praised Him with his gifts. It is not a matter of bragging rights; it is a matter of bragging about the right thing. As a result, Daniel was the best of the best. If we seek God wholeheartedly, He will provide for us beyond our greatest expectations and set us apart from the rest of the world. With God as our source of wisdom, people will see something different in us. God will be glorified by our faith. Fully depend on God to meet and exceed your every need, and you will be regarded as a cut above the rest.
