Houghton's scholarship fund exceeds $1 million dollars

For the first time in Houghton College history, the Student Scholarship Fund has met and exceeded its goal of raising $1,000,000. A gift was received just one day before the close of the fiscal year on May 31, 2012, that allowed the annual fund to cross the million-dollar mark.

Every dollar raised by the Student Scholarship Fund goes directly to students.

Four years ago, Houghton’s annual fund was raising around $700,000. Today, an increase of more than $300,000 in donor contributions to this fund speaks volumes about the impact of Houghton’s mission and highlights both the generous donors and the development team at Houghton.

“More and more, cost is a major factor in how students choose colleges,” said Pamela Witter, director of development at Houghton. “Each and every dollar raised by the Student Scholarship Fund equips us to recruit and retain students who will be forever changed by their Houghton experience–by a deeply Christian liberal arts journey that prepares them for future effectiveness in their profession and in the church.”
