"Prequel" draws Wesleyan leaders at General Conference

by Tricia Rife | Jun. 29, 2012

More than 150 pastors, leaders, and professors gathered in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 2, 2012, for Prequel, a pre-conference event hosted by Spiritual Formation (now the Church Multiplication and Discipleship Division) of The Wesleyan Church. For those who couldn’t travel to Lexington to be part of the Church’s Twelfth General Conference, there was an opportunity to join online via The Techology Show.

The theme for this year’s Prequel was Re-engaging Wesleyan Distinctives within God's Mission, headlined by special guest, Dr. Donald Dayton. An author and former professor (Drew University, Northern Seminary, and Azusa Pacific University), Dr. Dayton passionately presented a historical timeline of The Wesleyan Evangelical Church and helped establish quality discussions that centered around four questions:

  • Our past: Who were the Wesleyans?
  • The present: Who are we?
  • Our future: Where do we need to go?
  • How might we get there?
