Church leader, Dr. C.B. Colaw, passes

Dr. Charles Benjamin (C.B.) Colaw, age 93, died, surrounded by his family, at 7:35 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Alongside his late wife, Mabel, he gave a lifetime of service and leadership to The Wesleyan Church.  After nine years of pastoral ministry in Kansas, Dr. Colaw served as district superintendent of what has become the Tri-State District from 1956 to 1990 and was the founding pastor of Bartlesville First Wesleyan Church in 1959.  He served on the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Board of Trustees and its antecedent schools from 1956 to 2001, including twenty years as chair of the OWU trustees, and was instrumental in the university being located in Bartlesville.  At the general church level, he provided leadership at different times on the General Board of Administration, was chair of the Wesleyan Pension Board, chair of the Wesleyan Educational Council, and served on many other boards and commissions. 

Services for Dr. Colaw will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville on Friday, July 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
