The pastor of one of The Wesleyan Church’s most vibrant congregations was recently interviewed on Canada’s well-known 100 Huntley Street television broadcast.
Rev. Mark Wilson, pastor of Hayward Wesleyan Church in rural Hayward, Wisconsin, was interviewed by Jim Cantelon on 100 Huntley Street, Canada’s longest running daily talk show. Comparable to The 700 Club in the United States, 100 Huntley Street is the largest Christian program of its kind in the country.
The purpose of Rev. Wilson’s visit was to talk about his book, Filled up, Poured Out: How God’s Spirit Can Revive Your Passion and Purpose. The book is full of inspirational stories that encourage and challenge the reader to be replenished by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rev. Wilson tells his own story of how he was operating in ministry ten years ago on “reserve energy,” tired and burned out.
“This is what happens when ministers neglect their souls,” Rev. Wilson said, “and this can happen to anyone.”
After running on empty for too long, Rev. Wilson realized just how dry his relationship with Jesus really was when two of his most faithful members were tragically murdered in their own home. That time in his life changed his trajectory of ministry, as he began a new journey with the Lord that led to health and wholeness.
“My prayer is that the book will encourage a weary pastor about ready to throw in the towel–prayer power is the secret for effective, long-haul journey,” said Rev. Wilson.
