Kathy George has been named as the new director of children’s ministry for The Wesleyan Church. The Church Multiplication and Discipleship (CMAD) Division at Wesleyan World Headquarters is pleased to welcome her to their team. Division Leader, Dr. Jim Dunn states, "I am very pleased Kathy has agreed to join the endeavors of the CMAD team of transforming lives, churches, and communities. Her heart, burden, and priority for children’s ministry will serve the entire church well. She has both small church and large church experience. Her team-building ability will enable her to lead a field staff of children’s ministry leaders from across North America, as well. It is a wonderful gift to children’s ministry everywhere for Cypress Wesleyan Church to share her gifts and abilities with us all."
Kathy has been a children’s ministry director for 25 years. She served at First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe, OH for 9 years, and is currently in her 16th year at Cypress Wesleyan in Columbus, OH. During her time at Cypress, she has seen the children’s ministry grow from 200 to over 800 participants. The most challenging years for her have been the last three where the kids’ ministries at Cypress exploded! “It’s been the most exciting and challenging 3 years of my ministry life. The lessons learned during this time have been countless. Through these experiences I feel God is leading me towards an additional ministry of sharing the joy of lessons learned. My high in my ministry life is and forever will be hearing children pray to ask Jesus to be their best forever friend – there is nothing like it! I have been called to share Jesus with children and I will do whatever I need to do to make that happen.”
Kathy says that she has been blessed beyond belief. Her blessing list includes being raised in a pastor’s home by amazing parents, Rev. C.E. and Delores Hanks. She has been married to Rev. Dale George for 34 years and they have three sons, Nathan, Thomas, and Thadd, and two daughters-in-law, Ashley and Lauren.
