The school year is off to a great start at OKWU, as it is experiencing its fourth consecutive year of record enrollment. Total enrollment stands at 1238 students for the 2012 fall semester.

The university has received several “rankings” honors again. For the tenth straight year, Oklahoma Wesleyan University has been ranked in the top ten of the “Best in the West for Regional Colleges.” Probably the best-known college ranking system, these results are found in the U.S. News & World Report 2013 edition of America’s Best Colleges.

In addition, OKWU was once again ranked among America’s Best Colleges by Forbes.com. This ranking is a measure of great career prospects or post-graduate success; student satisfaction, low levels of debt, four-year graduation rate, and competitive awards.

Similarly, OKWU made the Colleges of Distinction List because it excels at four key distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities, and successful outcomes.

Dr. Everett Piper, OKWU president, remarked, “We are humbled by such recognition and thankful for God’s grace as we continue to stand strong and unapologetic for Christian higher education.”

The construction of the Keating Center for Capitalism, Free Enterprise, and Constitutional Liberty, as well as the Chesapeake Energy School of Business, is near completion. This state-of-the-art facility will also house the Communications Department and faculty offices.

The Science Building, located next to the Keating Center, has also benefited from a major renovation. An exterior update helps make the science building a better fit with the architecture of the OKWU campus. The interior upgrade includes new teaching facilities for the School of Nursing.

With a great start to the year comes lots of excitement for all that is happening on the campus currently.
