The International Wesleyan Youth Convention Follow ’12 is just months away and this week convention leaders are asking Wesleyans to be praying for the upcoming event held every three years.
This year’s event will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, December 28-31, 2012. Wesleyan Youth leadership have recognized September 24-30, 2012, as a week to specifically pray for Follow leaders, students, and event details. Leaders are asking Wesleyans to help reach 1,000 minutes of prayer in five days, an initiative posted on Wesleyan Youth’s Facebook page.
“We are asking all churches, youth groups, pastors, leaders, and students to join together and pray that this event will be life-changing for all who attend,” said Scott Simmons, director of youth ministries for Church Multiplication and Discipleship for The Wesleyan Church.
Rev. Simmons believes life-change “begins and ends with prayer. Over the years, God has done miraculous things at our youth convention, and I am convinced it is largely because hundreds of people were committed to prayer.”
The hope is that leaders will rally their churches and youth groups across our denomination and commit this week to prayer.
“We want to see God move in a mighty way, and that starts when we join together with one voice in petition for our time together,” said Rev. Simmons. Leaders are using Colossians 1:9-10 as a basis for specific prayer.
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.
