BGS Hosts Doctrinal Symposium
Jun. 5, 2009
The Wesleyan Church Board of General Superintendents hosted a June 5-6, 2009, doctrinal symposium at The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters in Fishers, Indiana. The symposium, which included theologians, religion professors, General Church, district, and local church leaders from across North America, is focused on hermeneutics: how Wesleyans interpret Scripture.
The Church's Board of General Superintendents periodically hosts doctrinal symposiums to explore Wesleyan theology and its application to current church and personal life. The recent symposium saw nearly100 participants from 18 states and one Canadian province gather for group and panel discussions and presentations.
Guest presenters include Evvy Hay Campbell, Wheaton College professor; Steve Lennox, Indiana Wesleyan University professor; Mark Weeter, Oklahoma Wesleyan University professor; Terrence Paige, Houghton College professor; Bob Black, Southern Wesleyan University professor; and Steve DeNeff, College Wesleyan Church (Marion, IN) pastor.
