Two thousand Wesleyan pastors, leaders, and educators converged on Jacksonville, Florida, January 4-6, 2011 to participate in The Gathering, a Wesleyan ministry conference

Gordon MacDonald Urges Pastors to Live a Resilient Life

As we near the end of our ministries, it is easy to become bitter and negative, according to Gordon MacDonald, an author, speaker, teacher, and editor-at-large for Leadership Journal. In a seminar on “The Resilient Pastor” at The Gathering in Jacksonville, Florida, early in January, he said the challenge is to develop a resiliency that will take us successfully through our lives. We must find a way to resolve these issues so that we are not embittered.

Is What You’re Fighting For Worth Dying For?

World War II veterans are a dying breed, literally. They are passing on at a rate of 1,000 per day. They are the ones who have lived to this day to tell about it — if you can get them to.

416,800 military men and women from the United States gave their lives in World War II. That is an astounding number. But it is estimated that somewhere around 70 million people — 70 million — were fatalities as a result of hostilities in World War II.
