IWU Teams Announce Basketball Camps

Women’s Camp

Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball will host the Lady Wildcat Basketball Day Camp from June 13-16, 2011 in the air conditioned Luckey Arena.

Lady Wildcat Basketball Camp is a four-day camp experience designed to improve the skills and fundamentals of each young athlete. Attendees will be under the supervision of coaches and players who specialize in all areas essential for building a strong basketball foundation.

Instruction will include basic skills and fundamentals such as shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, footwork, defense, and individual workout sessions.

The price of the camp is $90, which includes a t-shirt and basketball. Camp is for all girls age 8-17.

Indiana Wesleyan head coach Steve Brooks will serve as camp director. Brooks just completed his 12th season at the helm of the Wildcats and is the program's all-time winningest coach. He led Indiana Wesleyan to the 2007 NAIA national championship and was named the 2007 NAIA National Coach of the Year.

Men’s Camp

Indiana Wesleyan University head men's basketball coach Greg Tonagel has announced the dates for the 2011 IWU Basketball Camp sessions.

The Wildcat will offer four camps:  the "Mini Fun and Skills Camp" (ages 5-7) and the "Basketball Academy" (ages 8-14) will be June 6-9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. An "Advanced Shooting Camp" (ages 10-17) is being offered for the first time which we be held July 18-20 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. To wrap up the summer, IWU is hosting the 6th Annual "Prospect/Skills Camp" on August 27th (grades 8-12) from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

All camps are located in the state of the art facilities of both the Rec and Wellness Center and the Intercollegiate Activities Center.

Tonagel, the MCC and NCCAA National Coach of the Year, led the Wildcats to the 2010-11 Mid-Central College Conference championship, a NAIA National Tournament Elite 8 appearance and a 28-8 season record, is excited about this summer's basketball camps. With record numbers in last year's camps, this summer looks to be another big hit.
