Pray

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men and women. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers, pray for powers equal to your task.

Exodus 17:6 - "I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Throughout Scripture, water is used to literally and figuratively bring God’s saving provision. In their trek across the desert, the Israelites began to question God’s provision in the present (to provide water for a thirsty people) and God’s faithfulness for the future (Would they ever reach the promised land?). Standing at the rock of Horeb that day, Moses and the Israelites remembered—again—that the God they followed knew what He was doing and was worth trusting.

As we embark on The Gathering, many pastors, leaders, spouses, and friends will make their way to Jacksonville, FL, for rest and renewal. The Gathering will a time where we remember that together through Christ, we are stronger. Therefore, may we now, together, begin this journey of becoming like-minded in Spirit.

Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind instances of His faithfulness and provision. Just as the Israelites must have done at Horeb, remember—again—that the God you follow knows what He is doing and is worth trusting.

Pray with us:

“Almighty and ever living God, the source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with us as we seek the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Amen.

- Thank you for your prayers
