I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them;
intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. –1 Timothy 2:1 NLT
GP AFRICA AREA
Zambia: According to Africa Area Director Bob and Brenda Bagley, the Zimba Mission Hospital will celebrate its 50th anniversary on September 3-6. Pray that the celebration would be marked by the obvious presence of Christ. Pray that the demonstration of God’s love through the hospital’s ministry would be clearly evident.
GP ASIA AREA
Cambodia: Missionaries Tim and Tiffany Gallant sent the following praise report:
We want to say thank you for your continued support and prayers, specifically those prayers for our family while we minister here in Cambodia. Last Wednesday night [August 25], your prayers for safety were answered in an amazing way when we had an electrical fire in our house. . . . Even though this problem has caused us to have to move into a different home for the duration of building repair and has caused us to spend many hours cleaning up after the fire, we praise God for His protection and provision.
Pray for Tim and Tiffany as they deal with the aftermath of this fire, along with teaching classes for the last two weeks of the semester at the Wesleyan Bible Institute and preparing for finals.
GP CARIBE ATLANTIC AREA
Rick West, Caribe Atlantic coordinator for Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana sent the following updates from Guyana and Suriname:
Guyana: Missionary Doris Wall writes, “We just finished checking the text, footnotes, glossary, etc., of the Patamuna New Testament translation. Now we will work through those hard spelling and word break decisions!” Pray for Doris, the team of translators, and those giving detail to the revisions in order to bring the Living Word to the people in the interior of Guyana, South America, in their own language.
Suriname: Rick West will accompany two evangelists from the Francis Asbury Society to a major evangelistic outreach in Moengo and the capital city of Paramaribo on September 5-12. Pray for the team of evangelists as they make Christ known through the preaching of the Word and offer seminars on holiness to the Wesleyan pastors. Also, pray for Rev. Levi Iengibe as he leads The Wesleyan Church in Suriname.
GP EUROPE AREA
Czech Republic: The Brno Wesleyan Church retreat will take place in September. Pray for growing relationships and unity in the Spirit among the congregation. Pray they would find encouragement in Christ-focused worship, prayer, and fellowship.
Russia: Pray for missionaries Jeff and Gelya Whitney as they resume their ministry for young married couples in September. Last autumn they started this ministry with six couples from the Vladimir Wesleyan Church who had been married four years or less. Pray for the effectiveness of this ministry, and pray for God to place a hedge of protection around these marriages.
GP IN ISRAEL
Global Partners’ first missionaries to Israel have now been in the country over four months. They recently had their first “church service” which included nonfamily members. Praise the Lord! Pray that they would continue to find other believers to worship with them. Pray that ultimately they would have others who do not yet know Jesus join them. They eagerly anticipate seeing Acts 2:46-47 come to pass in Israel:
. . . They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (NIV)
