Weekly Prayer and Praise Page of Global Partners

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for
his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He
was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
–Isaiah 53:4-5 NLT

GP CARIBE ATLANTIC AREA

Haiti: Two months have passed since a devastating earthquake shook Haiti. Caribe Atlantic Area Director Dan and Joy Irvine sent the following update and prayer requests:

  • Praise: In the first six weeks more than 120 medical and logistical people gave their time and energy to the people of Haiti by working in the Petit Goave field clinic as well as the LaGonave hospital. Many more from other organizations worked alongside our teams tirelessly treating the injured.
  • Praise: Over 50 tons of food and relief supplies have been distributed in more than 60 communities through the generosity of people from New York and Washington.
  • Praise: Two different teams from Scotland arrived with much needed medical supplies as well as vital tetanus vaccines. One team of three men accompanying a shipment of 60 bags containing 3,000 pounds of medicines traveled to Haiti via the Dominican Republic.
  • Pray for families as they grieve. Almost every family in Haiti has been touched by death. The Carrefour Feuille Wesleyan Church lost 100 members.
  • Pray for the homeless living in tent cities, especially during the rainy season.
  • Schools have not reopened. Pray for school directors who must make decisions on the safety of school buildings.
  • Pray for the GP mission team as their roles are redefined to meet the needs of the Haitians around them.
  • Pray for GP General Director Dr. H. C. Wilson and Dan Irvine as they lead some North American Wesleyan Church representatives on a Rebuilding Haiti Vision Tour on March 23-27. Pray for the recovery and rebuilding of The Wesleyan Church of Haiti.

GP EUROPE AREA

Czech Republic: One of our missionaries shared that she has tried to console a Czech friend whose family has just received devastating news. This family, like many in the Czech Republic, is atheistic and has no hope when they encounter crisis situations. Pray for our missionary as she is salt and light to her friend. Pray that the hearts of the Czech people would be softened and their eyes opened to the reality of Jesus Christ. Pray for Christians who seek to share the truth with so many who are lost.

GP TURKIC/ARABIC MUSLIM AREA

Karis People: The GP missionary team among the Karis people sent the following prayer requests:

  • After being approached by a lady who attends a house church with the request to begin a group for girls, one of our missionaries has started a group. The first meeting was today, and the plan is to meet every other week. Pray for this group as they learn about living a Christian life.
  • Plans to begin a new youth group have been underway, and meetings are scheduled to start next week. Pray for God’s wisdom for those leading the meetings. Pray that the youth would attend with open hearts and minds.
  • Pray for the men on our team as they continue reaching out to Karis men. Pray that they would have more opportunities to share their faith with those they meet. Pray for God to put a hunger within men’s hearts to pursue the truth of the gospel.
