Events

Currently, 250 peer mentoring groups are meeting, potentially engaging 1,500 of our ministers.

Advanced mentoring group facilitator training is available to districts upon request.

Training for peer coaching is available to districts (or clusters of districts) upon request. The training seminar is a four-hour event that is provided to districts without cost. Handout materials are provided. Scheduling can be done through the BGS Executive Assistant, Ken Heer, by phone at 317-774-3896 or by email at heerk@wesleyan.org.

LDJ consultant training is available to districts (or clusters of districts) upon request.

New Pastor Orientation. A denominational orientation for new pastors is held each November at World Headquarters. The event is designed to bring together newly appointed pastors to:

Orient them to the history doctrine, culture, and practices of the Church
Assist in establishing support systems to ensure a good start in ministry
Introduce them to General Church leaders
Identify and clarify expectations
Inform them of the ministries, resources, and opportunities of the Church
Reinforce the mission of the Church
Give opportunity for Church leaders to share their passion for ministry and the mission of the Church

The Gathering '11--Ministry Conference. The Board of General Superintendents, with the assistance of grants from the Weslyan Investment Foundation and the Department of Evangelism and Church Growth, sponsored The Gathering '07 - Ministry Conference, January 2-5, 2007, at the Wyndham Resort, Orlando, Florida. This was an incredible time for ministers to renew their spirit, rekindle their passion for ministry, and retool themselves for greater effectiveness. The Gathering '11 is being planned for January 2011.

Doctrinal Symposia. A doctrinal symposium was held June 1-2, 2007 at World Headquarters. The next symposium will be during General Conference, June 2008, in Orlando, Florida.
