Retreat Centers. Sometimes pastors need a place to get away for rest. Here are some retreat centers that are particularly geared for assisting Christian workers. LDJ is not endorsing any of then, but providing this list for you to investigate as to whether any of them may be what you are looking for.
Lilly Endowment Sabbatical Opportunity
The Lilly Endowment sponsors a National Clergy Renewal Program, which provides up to $45,000 in grant assistance to enable qualified pastors to carry out three to four month sabbaticals. Up to $15,000 of these funds may be used for congregational activities during the pastor's absence, such as pulpit supply.
To be eligible, ministers must be ordained and have earned a mastor of divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary. The deadline for proposals is May 15, 2008.
