The Gathering - A Wesleyan Church

Church planting is an exciting and wild adventure. At The Gathering - A Wesleyan Church, Pastor Josh Broughton is helping the congregation to understand the importance of prayer. God has been answering prayer and we want to share some of the exciting ways that God has been at work in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
Long before The Gathering was even a thought in a mind or words on a page, God had been cultivating ground in the Florida District that is fertile for new church plants. The Gathering has received a tremendous amount of support from the Florida District of The Wesleyan Church and the Hope & Holiness Trust. Without this support, an already difficult job would seem impossible.
The Gathering meets in an elementary school on Sundays. One of the many ways that the generous gift from the Hope & Holiness Trust has helped The Gathering is that it has given them the resources to rent office space. The office space offers stability, and the opportunity to have small group meetings, without setting up and tearing down equipment. Pastor Ryan Hansard said there is no doubt that this space will play an important role in the transformation of many lives.
Currently, The Gathering holds prayer meetings in the rented office space. God has been moving in the congregation. From houses selling, people moving across the country, to people getting healed from sickness, God continues to bring the right people at the right time. Hansard says, “The continual prayer of The Gathering is that God will go before us and help us to see people as Jesus sees people.”

Dear Friends,
It is with great joy that I share with you the results of your giving towards the Hope and Holiness Trust this past year. It has been my distinct honor to be in most of the churches listed as recipients of your generosity. I will never forget walking down Division Street in Grand Rapids, MI on my way to “The Edge” as young “hip-hoppers” were passing me. I was not sure where they were going in such a determined way. Yes, they had the “hip-hop” look – pants low etc. I must admit, I assumed they would be heading for one of the bars along the way. But to my surprise, they were going to the same place I was – The Edge Urban Fellowship, A Wesleyan Church. We all entered the same door. Yes, truly the SAME door – the door of Jesus Christ who had forgiven me and forgiven them - yes, the same power of the Holy Spirit who was working through all of us for His Glory. The testimonies that evening from my new friends made me know again the power of Jesus present in this day. The teaching by Pastor Evans was deep and convicting. This past week, I met one of the young men from the street, who is now at Indiana Wesleyan University where he is studying for the ministry. God is in the business of transforming people and communities!
Thank you for joining with God in his action in the cities of North America. This is only one example of multiple lives being transformed. I could fill pages with similar stories from all the churches. I look forward to how God is going to continue to transform lives and communities in some of the most depressed areas of North America. We serve a God who delights in Resurrection! This will happen through your continued partnership with the Hope and Holiness Trust.
Blessings,
Jo Anne Lyon
