Wouldn't it be great if...
...You could expand your influence and message beyond Sunday morning.
...You could involve your congregation in growing together by reading similar spiritual resources
...You could help support church ministries without taking special offerings.
They're doing it in Vancouver. In Chicago. In Los Angeles. In Philadelphia. In cities all over North America, civic leaders and citizens are joining together to read the same book at the same time. Since it's inception in 1998, the Library of Congress's "One Book, One City" campaign has spread to more than 200 communities. Why? Because there is power in shared experience, and leaders know that reading together taps that power. Having an entire congregation or leadership focus on one thing generates tremendous energy. Here are some advantages to reading one book as a church.
Any communal activity builds morale within a group. Shared experience unites people. And reading the same text will bring any leadership team, congregation, or small group into greater harmony. People will bond over the book.
