A Letter Written by a Loving Wife about Her Husband and His Encounter with Pastor Larry
I have been attending the Wesleyan Church for over a year, and I want to share a story about my husband Dean who got very sick in 2015. He was in an out of the hospital from January through August of that year. Dean was put in the Seaford Rehab and Pastor Larry Pritchett was the second person who was put in the room with Dean. What a blessing! Dean would tell me he was not going to be alive for his birthday or Christmas. I asked, "Where are you going?" His answer was hell. Boy was I mad, and I told him no way! The best thing that happened was when the rehab center put Pastor Larry in the room with Dean. Dean asked Pastor Larry what he did for a living, and Dean said, "Oh my, he is a Bible thumper." Well, they became friends, and Pastor Larry led Dean to Jesus.
To shorten the story, the day came when my husband was dying, and I asked him where he was going. Dean looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, "I am going to see Jesus Christ and His Father. I hugged him and cried. I asked, "You're not going to hell?" He said, "No, I will be with my Father and His Son, Jesus Christ." Dean so wanted to go to Pastor Larry's church, but passed on Sunday, August 2015 before he could attend. Dean loved Pastor Larry and cried and told me what a good man he was. Dean said, "Larry is my bother and he helped me find God, again." Pastor Larry preached Dean's memorial service and my family was so impressed with him. I love going to Denton Wesleyan Church, Pastor Larry's church. My friend Fay, my grandson, and my daughter-law go with me when they can.
Follow up - In conversation with Pastor Larry, he said, "It was a privilege to have the opportunity to know Dean and share Christ with Him. My rehab stay was a result of a terrible injury, but it was worth it to have the opportunity to share Christ."
