Goals and dreams

May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, "The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant." (Ps. 35:27)

DAVID WAS IN HIDING while he ran from his enemies. He hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, when his enemies were ill, he had earnestly fasted and prayed for them. But in return these people sought to destroy his life and reputation. David turned to the Lord, crying out in anguish, impatient for God to answer and restore fairness.

After David cried out to the Lord, he daydreamed about what would happen when the Lord answered his prayer. First, he would see his enemies openly brought to justice, and David would be restored to his peaceful life. Then, crowds of people would shout, huge smiles on their faces, tears of joy streaming down their cheeks; it would be a huge party! These throngs of people would not be lifting up David, but would exalt the Lord.

What life victories do you daydream about? Getting married? Having a child? Owning a home? Becoming debt free? Gaining wealth? Reconciling with estranged family members? Does your daydream's happy ending stop when you get what you wanted, or do you envision giving God credit and seeing others praise God as well? Look forward to openly and freely exalting the Lord and inviting others to join you.

Tell someone what God has done for you today.
