I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death. (Ps. 88:3)
In December 2018, I was suffering from depression and anxiety, as well as being spiritually attacked while contemplating ending my life. I experienced the most frightening feeling and the worst thoughts I have ever had. Where was God as I was attacked from the inside and out? What was God doing when I felt this way? He was waking up a dear friend and telling her to pray against the spirit of oppression and suicide! Wow, God! I did not find this out until weeks later, but I was relieved and so grateful for how God saved me yet again!
When I feel down, I recall this time and look to Psalm 88:1–3 for the comfort of solidarity with another who felt the same way: “Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you. May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death.” God is always there for me when I feel low. In such times, I can remember how powerful God truly is, and that nothing in this world or even myself could truly destroy me. But I am most thankful for Jesus, who took on the power of God to save me and the world.
Rest assured that God is always there for you.
