Janelle Vernon serves as the General Secretary of The Wesleyan Church and executive director of Wesleyan Publishing House, with strength, integrity and love for the Lord and his church.

Prior to her election as the first lay member of The Wesleyan Church Executive Cabinet in June 2016, Janelle served at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, in the areas of marketing and enrollment management for more than six years. She held the title of vice president for Enrollment Management and Marketing, Residential Campus.

A trusted leader, Janelle’s synergistic leadership encourages and empowers others to live into their calling, employing their God-given talents and abilities to serve others. Her administrative acumen has helped to support and equip organizations with engaging their vision and mission effectively.

Janelle holds degrees from Huntington University, Huntington, Indiana, and Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky. She has marketing, public relations, media relations, event planning, crisis management, constituent relations, governance and legal/organizational policy interpretation experience. Her career spans private industry, state government, Christian higher education and denominational leadership.

She accepted Jesus as her Savior at age 10 and rededicated her life at age 29, fully committing to seeking God first and walking in the fullness of that relationship.

Janelle and her husband, Chuck, reside in Marion, Indiana. They have two children and three grandchildren.
