I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy. Philippians 1:3-4

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and once again, The Wesleyan Church is inviting congregations across North America to celebrate with our theme, “Side by Side: Together in Ministry, United in Purpose.”

Pastor Appreciation Month is about more than simply saying “thank you.” It’s an opportunity to intentionally encourage the pastors and ministry leaders who faithfully shepherd our churches. Throughout the month, we have the privilege of reminding them that they are seen, valued, and supported by the people they serve.

Ministry is a calling filled with joy, purpose, and eternal impact, but it can also be lonely. Scripture reminds us that even Elijah experienced seasons of isolation. In 1 Kings 19, after witnessing God’s incredible victory over the prophets of Baal, Elijah found himself exhausted, discouraged, and feeling alone. While every pastor’s experience is different, many understand what it means to carry the weight of ministry in quiet, unseen ways.

That’s why this year’s theme continues to matter. Side by Side is a reminder that ministry was never meant to be done alone. As the Body of Christ, we serve together, encourage one another, and pursue God’s mission with a shared purpose.

This October, we invite every congregation to intentionally remind your pastor, “We’re with you. We’re grateful for you. We’re serving Christ together.” Whether through words of encouragement, acts of kindness, or moments of celebration, your appreciation can become a source of renewed strength.

Join the Social Media Celebration

Throughout October, we encourage churches to share photos of pastors and congregations celebrating together on Facebook and Instagram using #TWCPAM.

At the end of the month, we’ll randomly select participating churches to receive prizes, including:

  • Free books

  • Amazon gift cards

  • Grand Prize: SonScape Retreat registration

Every post is another opportunity to publicly celebrate the pastors who faithfully lead our churches and to encourage others to do the same.

Whether it’s a heartfelt prayer, a handwritten note, a thoughtful gift, or simply taking time to express your gratitude, every act of encouragement communicates something powerful: you are not alone.

Our hope is that every Wesleyan pastor finishes Pastor Appreciation Month knowing they are surrounded by people who care deeply for them, believe in the work God has called them to, and are committed to serving side by side as we fulfill Christ’s mission together.

Thank you for helping make Pastor Appreciation Month a meaningful expression of gratitude across The Wesleyan Church. Together, we continue to stand side by side: together in ministry, united in purpose.

Invest in The Thrive Financial Initiative

Helping your pastor doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes a practical investment can make a lasting difference. The Thrive Financial Initiative (TFI) provides an opportunity for Wesleyan churches to make a meaningful financial investment in their pastors while helping pastors grow in financial health and well-being.

There are currently two grant opportunities available: the TFI NextGen Grant and the TFI Pension Grant.

TFI NextGen Grant

If your pastor is serving kids, teens, or young adults, your church may be able to provide up to $1,000 toward your pastor’s well-being and qualify for the TFI NextGen matching grant.

This could include a practical investment such as pastor appreciation, ministry development, education, conferences, or other creative investments that support your pastor beyond their current compensation. This is a matching opportunity based on a local church investing $1,000 in their NextGen pastor or leader for their personal, financial, relational, or emotional well-being.

TFI Pension Grant

A new or continuing contribution to the Wesleyan Pension Fund for your pastor, up to $1,000, can qualify your pastor for the TFI Pension Grant.

The grant matches up to $1,000 of your church’s investment in your pastor’s pension. If your pastor opens a Wesleyan Pension as part of the grant, the matching amount is $1,500.

This is a simple, practical way for your church to invest in your pastor’s long-term financial health.

The registration deadline has been extended, giving churches additional time to take advantage of this opportunity. Registration closes October 31st, with a completion deadline of November 30.
