Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. (Ps. 128:1–2)

SHARON HAD HEARD IT A HUNDRED TIMES. Maybe a thousand. It seemed as if every time they drove away after church, Tom, her husband, launched into a list of worries concerning the small auto repair shop he owned. Sharon decided that this time would be different. Interrupting Tom just as he started, she said, “Did you hear a thing the preacher said? He said that God will bless us at work when we walk with Him, just like He does at church. Why not try believing it?”

Over the next few months, Tom began every day in his office by reading his Bible and asking God to guide him in every decision, not only to build his business but also to be a better witness to the customers he so desperately needed. The four mechanics he employed watched Tom’s attitude change from hurried rudeness to confident kindness. Finally, even Sharon, whom Tom did not immediately tell about his experiment, noticed that the post-church complaining sessions had disappeared. After sharing the good news of his transformation, Tom admitted to Sharon, “You were right. I’m so glad I turned my work over to Him.”  Learn to trust God to help you in your daily work. He has promised to bless you at work when you place Him first in your life (see Matt. 6:33).

Serve God in everything—at work, at home, and at play.
