Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matt. 5:4)

WE HAVE SO MUCH to mourn over. You don’t have to live very long to have lost something or someone very important to you. If we have any conscience at all, we should mourn over lost virtue, ruined reputations, discarded honesty, or loose tempers. With so many human frailties to account for, we could spend a lot of time in regret and sadness over our continual state of failure and disappointment. But there is a provision for us concerning these difficult times!

As we mourn our mistakes, Jesus is there to comfort us. He will not condone willful defiance or deliberate acts of sin, but He will wrap His loving arms around us when we are at the point of mourning our fallen state. He comforts with forgiveness, mercy, and a fresh start. He will erase our record and set us on a new path with His compassion and instruction.

Freedom from mourning lifts our spirits to see new possibilities. The comfort Jesus offers is a warm, healing balm to make us healthy enough to start again. Restoration can begin as soon as we embrace our Comforter and let go of the past hurts and hindrances. Only then can we reach higher than we were before. Are you ready to move on from your mourning? He’s ready to comfort you!

Make a list of the things you are still mourning and release them to God.
