Listen to today’s devo!

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. (Ps. 51:6)

“I L-I-E-D” rang out from the top of the steps. Just ten minutes before I had tucked my curly-haired three-year-old, Caroline, into bed. Before singing our nightly song and praying with her, I had asked her about a movie I suspected she had watched with a babysitter. A movie that I had previously told her not to watch without me. She denied the allegation, so I kissed her good night and headed downstairs to ready myself for bed.

Ten minutes of being in the dark and experiencing deep separation from her mommy (that came from her dishonesty) were all it took for her confession to come wallowing out of her tiny little body. My reaction to her was not fury, but instead a big smile, happy tears, and a heart full of joy for my daughter. Our relationship had been made right, and she had conquered the shame of sin that often keeps us quiet and separated from our heavenly Father.

Our Father in heaven does not suspect our dishonesty; he knows it. He sees our every move, and he isn’t waiting at the bottom of the stairs to punish you. He’s waiting for you and your confession with open arms, ready to forgive and move forward in a right relationship with you today. Confess your sins and experience freedom and forgiveness from your heavenly Father right now.

Seek a right relationship with God and discover his peace.
