Listen to today’s devo!

You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely. (Ps. 59:17)

Expanded Passage: Psalm 59:1, 14-17

“Congratulations on your baby girl,” the doctor said as I held my newborn. Looking down at this precious baby, I intuitively knew that I was now responsible for her protection. I became a barrier to protect her from dangerous objects, animals, and rambunctious children. I learned to differentiate the meanings of her cries and to wipe away her tears. As she has learned to walk, ride a bike, and drive a car, I have been there. As an adult, she has now taken on new roles of her own, yet my protective responsibility has never wavered.

Likewise, we are God’s children, and his protection is provided around us constantly. Through life we will have many trials; however, we will not face them alone. God is our rock and with his strength we can conquer any troubles. The same God that formed the heavens and earth is protecting us with his mighty hand.

In those times when we feel alone—remember his protection is there.

In those times when we are faced with danger—remember his protection is there.

In those times when we feel hurt—remember his protection is there.

Just like a mother as she cradles her infant in her arms, God cradles us. His protection is secure, and he is ready to share his mercy and grace.

Always remember God is right by your side.
