Listen to today’s devo!

My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside. (Job 23:11)

When the going gets tough, give up. Wait a minute; that's not how the saying goes. Maybe not, but many of us consider ourselves not tough enough to get going. For many people, tough times break the spirit and discourage any efforts that require strength. Prolonged struggles are tiring and weaken even the toughest and strongest. No one is immune.

Take heart! There is hope!

During WWII, weary soldiers would sometimes follow a tank. The tank would protect them and clear obstacles out of their path. The weak would follow something stronger.

A tank is no comparison for the omnipotence of God. Following him by obeying his commands, loving as he has taught us, and trusting him to prepare the way will protect us and soften obstacles. Relying on the strength of God's Word without wavering allows him to be tough for us.

Job stepped where God first stepped. Job followed the path God laid out. Job lived the way God taught him. The path of life Job was on, God had already cleared. The difficulties Job faced, God had already conquered. The life Job lived, God had already approved.

In God's strength, we too can live right, follow the right path, and face even the greatest difficulties. We may not be tough enough, but our God is! Make him your God and rely on him.

Let the Lord God be your strength.
