Listen to today’s devo!

But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might. (Mic. 3:8)

Cam and six other students from Indiana Wesleyan University were heading to South Dakota. They had been asked to lead worship for a large gathering of district youth. A few days before traveling west from Marion, Indiana, Cam approached me.

“Umfundisi, last night I couldn’t sleep. I kept tossing back and forth, thinking about how I could impress the youth who will be there. The thought then came to me, ‘Cam, you are not there to shine the spotlight on yourself. The youth should not be leaving the services only talking about how wonderful you and the worship team are. Your purpose is to point them to Jesus Christ!’ But how do I do this, Umfundisi?”

For the next twenty minutes I shared with Cam about his need to humble himself before God and ask to be filled with his Spirit. Cam then prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill him. He also told God that he did not want to be the center of attention, but that he wanted God to be glorified.

Upon their return to the university, Cam came to me. “Umfundisi, God did miracles this weekend! I could sense God’s power flowing through me. Many young people made decisions for Christ! It was wonderful how God’s Spirit was working in and through our worship team!”

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, and minister in his power.
