Prayer Focus: Connectional moments at the 15th General Conference.
Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (v. 3)
Our dear Lord and Savior,
We approach your presence on this day realizing you have already been surrounding and guiding us. We’re grateful for your guidance in our lives. Yet, at the same time, we realize we do not live alone but in the unity of your Holy Spirit with our sisters and brothers. Throughout the Scriptures, you continually remind us that our relationships with each other are the “currency” of God’s kingdom.
It is from this understanding we ask that around the General Conference tables in May our delegates would be listeners to each other in humility. Please be with and guide General Superintendent Dr. Wayne Schmidt as he chairs the business sessions. May he have wisdom that leads to unity of the Spirit among your people throughout the discussions. As delegates and observers help us to be gentle and patient with each other, even in times of disagreement, realizing we are seeking your face through the bond of peace.
Through our times of worship, would you cleanse our hearts and strengthen our relationships with you and each other?
And finally, may your love, Lord, flow through us so it will be said of us as of the early Christians by a pagan world: “See how they love each other.
Thank you for answering this extravagant prayer. In the name of Jesus we ask these things, amen.
Jo Anne Lyon
