Prayer Focus: For Wesleyans to boldly embrace God’s mission in here, near, hard and far places in the Greater Ohio and Indiana South Districts.

Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
(v. 19)

God,

Thank you for sending Jesus to die for our sins and for his resurrection that gives us the hope of eternal life. We realize that this is really good news that the world needs to hear and that you have commissioned us to share it with others. We initially responded by accepting this mission and excitedly embracing its challenge, but, alas, over time the daily demands and distractions of life can easily divert our focus. This happens gradually and subtly as our fervor subsides and the embers cool.

God, we want your mission to be our mission. We want to keep the “main thing” the “main thing.”

We recognize the distractions that have diverted our focus, resulting in neglect of your mission.

We repent of not seriously pursuing your commission and letting you down.

We resolve to cast aside our distractions and embrace your mission.

God, bless Les Crossfield and the pastors in Ohio as well as Doug Preston and the pastors in southern Indiana as they faithfully pursue your mission and challenge those in their charge to the vision of the “Great Commission.” Anoint them with the power and courage of the Holy Spirit and grant them much fruit for the kingdom. Amen.

Carl Shepherd
