Prayer Focus: For Wesleyans to boldly embrace God’s mission in here, near, hard and far places in the Northwest and Pacific Southwest Districts.
Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations ...
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (vv. 19-20)
Father,
I come before you reflecting on the recent words I have heard you speak to my heart, “Go, my beloved, go.” I’ve heard you in my prayer life as the Spirit prompts me to be bold, through my pastor’s sermons as he reminds us of our calling, and in the worship music I hear. You are simply urging me “Go, my beloved, go boldly.” I read your words in Matthew 28:19, telling tell us to “Therefore go and make disciples …”
I recognize you at work all around me. Many are going boldly into the community. They aren’t traveling far away, just BOLDLY going into our community. Help me to join them, Father. May I see the lost nearby and walk with them as we travel the path of faith together. Give me compassion for their situations. Form the words I should say when needed and the knowledge to know when to keep my mouth shut. May they see your light in me.
As The Wesleyan Church, we bring our leaders before you. Specifically, we lift our Northwest and Pacific Southwest district superintendents, Wes Smith and Mike Skor, to you. As we enter this new quadrennium, would you prepare them to lead boldly. May they guide their districts with wisdom, compassion, passion and understanding. Open their eyes that they may see you at work and join the Holy Spirit who is already at work. Awaken and stir your people in the districts to go where you are leading, confident that you are always with them on mission in our world.
In the precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.
