Prayer Focus: For Wesleyans to boldly embrace God’s mission in here, near, hard and far places in the Tri-State and Western New York Districts.
Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing ...
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (vv. 19-20)
Father,
We thank you for privilege of inclusion in your mission and your divine plan. As we endeavor to faithfully “make disciple of all nations” (v. 19), please go before us. Empower us to go forth boldly and to share the lifegiving message of the gospel, with the power and authority you have given to us.
Lord, we thank you for the gift of our leaders. We are reminded in your Word that it is you who provides leaders for us; “… the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12, ESV).
We thank you especially for the hearts and gifts of Superintendents Devon Smith in the Tri-State District and Joey Jennings in the Western New York District. Thank you for their callings, willingness to serve, and for their families and loved ones who support and love them on good days and challenging ones. We ask that as they continue the work of leading and equipping, that you would encourage their hearts and give them strength and boldness to stand, even when opposed, with hearts overflowing with love and compassion for your people.
We thank you for the leaders you are calling across the Tri-State and Western New York Districts, clergy and lay, young and seasoned. Please give them boldness and conviction, wisdom and discernment. Give them courage to stand and endurance for the race. May they always feel and be comforted by your presence and your power.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior, amen.
