Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior. (Ps. 25:4–5)
Expanded Passage: Psalm 25
In many parts of the world, modern navigation is incredible; with a global positioning system, or GPS, I can input my destination into a smartphone, knowing I will be guided to my stop by the most efficient route. I can even set my GPS to avoid construction, highways, tollways, or anything that might delay my journey. I no longer have to fumble with folding a paper map that doesn’t depict the best routes or road closures. But as amazing as GPS technology is, it isn’t perfect, sometimes due to the error of the person using it, sometimes due to flaws in the technology itself.
In our walk with God, we need direction and guidance. As those called to minister and share the gospel, it’s vital that we take a route focused on the right destination. Our destination is always to know Christ more fully every day.
This psalm reminds me how to choose the right destination for my life every day. When I surrender the desire to make my own path and allow the Lord to teach and guide me instead, I position myself to know God more fully. “Operator error” may occur at times, but you can be sure God will never lose sight of you or lead you down the wrong path. So we pray today and every day, “Lord, show me your ways.”
Pray this verse today in faith.
