May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me. (Ruth 1:17)
Relationships require commitment. When former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away in 2018 at age 92, she and former President George H. W. Bush had been married 73 years. During their entire marriage, which included raising a family and running a business, as well as living in the White House for four years, no one would see Mr. Bush without his lovely wife.
When God created man, he thought that it was not good for man to be alone, so he gave him a mate, a woman. God had envisioned man living happily with his mate in a garden that would provide for all their needs. The relationship between Adam and Eve was meant to be one that made each of them dependent upon the other and both of them dependent upon God.
Mr. and Mrs. Bush were great role models within their family, their community, and the world that closely watched them. Their legacy will long outlive them, as the respect they have earned from those around them has become a trademark of their lives on this earth. The notoriety they achieved in their lifetime was not that of people who lived in the limelight without caring for their fellow man, but that of compassionate, caring people who would outstretch their hands to serve those who counted on them.
Commit yourself to God and he will direct your path.
