Oklahoma Wesleyan University and the Bartlesville community are saddened this week by the loss of former college President John Snook. Mr. Snook led what was then Bartlesville Wesleyan College from 1974 to 1983.

“We all should be grateful to John Snook for his leadership of OKWU during its formative years,” said Dr. Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan. “He was a gifted communicator and loyal churchman. His love for OKWU and for Bartlesville was well known by all. He will be sorely missed in this community and by this university.”

During his time as president, Snook emphasized the University’s mission saying, “We have a heritage built on the holy scriptures, perpetuated by a dynamic church, and propagated by a quality education…Here at [BWC] we are in the business of training young men and women who will go out and make a difference in their world for God and for good.”

Memorial services for Mr. Snook will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 pm at Grace Community Church in Bartlesville.
