He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. (Mark 16:6)

Jesus rose from the dead. May we never forget the power behind that truth. God incarnate came down in the form of a man—the suffering servant, the Messiah, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Jesus came into history at the perfect time, into the creation he created. He lived, he served, and he died. But, the story did not end there. Jesus defeated death, he rose again, for you and for me and for all humanity.

Without the resurrection of Jesus, the crucifixion was just another torturous death at the hands of the Romans. Jesus did not die just for the atonement of our sins; he defeated the hold of sin and death in our lives. Because of the resurrection, we are able to be adopted into God’s family, we are able to be called children of God. Because of the resurrection, we are able to find freedom from sin and temptation, from the chains of the Enemy. Because of the resurrection, we have the hope that we will, one day, spend all eternity with our heavenly Father.

The resurrection brought us new life, so we cannot live as if we are still in death. We live by the same, perfect love that brought Jesus back from the dead. Therefore, live a life full of joy, and share this amazing resurrecting power with the rest of creation.

Take a moment to reflect on the power of the resurrection.
