They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. (Acts 6:6)
Expanded Passage: Acts 6:6
God's Spirit unites believers with Christ and places them in the body of Christ, also known as the church. Christ also unites believers in his death, which enables them to live victoriously over sin. The Holy Spirit moves in the believers who yield to him. We receive gifts of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and fear of the Lord through the Holy Spirit when he dwells in us.
Apostles laid their hands on people so that they would be filled with the Spirit of God, and through God's wisdom gain the ability to be obedient before God. Through the laying of their hands, these men received instructions from God through the Holy Spirit so that they could become part of the body of Christ and work according to God's will.
In our churches, we should do exactly as the apostles did to create unity among believers. It is our calling to be the hands and feet of Jesus in any matter so that the Spirit of God will reach more believers, helping us to do what is pleasing to God and to glorify him through our actions.
Listen for the Holy Spirit in anything that you are doing.
