They are more precious than gold. (Ps. 19:10)

For years pastor Keith prayed for the salvation of one of his neighbors. When prayer needs were shared at church, Pastor Keith would often request, “Please pray for my neighbor. He needs God so badly.”

The day came when Pastor Keith, with excitement in his voice, announced, “My neighbor accepted Christ this week!” Those who were present to hear this wonderful news pressed him for the details of how it happened.

“As many of you know, my neighbor is fairly well off financially. As he became more and more financially secure, he began to buy more and more things. He also bought an enormous house. Recently his house caught fire. Nothing was salvageable. A few days after the fire he decided to walk through the rubble. After walking around the area where his house once stood he walked toward the swimming pool. As he did so, he noticed a charred piece of paper floating on the water. As my neighbor put it, ‘An inner voice told me to scoop up that paper and read what was on it, so that is what I did. On that piece of paper were the words of John 3:16. Then it hit me: God really did love me. He was giving me another chance to live for him.’ That day he surrendered his life to Christ.”

Rejoice that God’s Word communicates his love and changes lives.
