A beloved member of the Wesleyan Pension Fund team for the last 19 years has passed away. She was 54 years old.

Alessia Stowers, director of benefits and administration for Wesleyan Pension Fund, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, after being hospitalized for two weeks.

Doctors were unable to identify or defeat the sudden, unexpected onset of an infection. She had been placed in a medically induced coma for 10 days, and ultimately was overcome by acute respiratory distress.

In 1981 she started working at The Wesleyan Church Headquarters in the General Treasurer’s Office. She served there for 16 years before moving to the Wesleyan Pension Fund in 1997, where she served until her death. Her service totaled nearly 35 years.

“I had the privilege of working with her in my role as CEO of Wesleyan Pension Fund for 13 years,” said Craig Dunn of Wesleyan Investment Foundation. “She was a very compassionate, loyal, caring, loving, and conscientious employee. She loved her job and loved working with the thousands of pastors and lay people that are members of Wesleyan Pension Fund. It was an honor to know Alessia and to work with her.”

Viewing for Alessia Stowers will be Friday, April 22, 2016, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home (415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana). The funeral will take place Saturday, April 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
