Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isa. 6:8)
Expanded Passage: Isaiah 6:8
Growing up, I was unaware of a prayer of dedication that my mother had offered up to God earlier in her life. Having had seven boys, my precious mom had prayed that at least one of her boys would be in full-time ministry serving God.
On my fifth birthday, I was kidnapped by a stranger at the back of our house while playing with other kids. For three horrific days, I was separated from my loving family. I was later found in another part of our city by the police and reunited with my family. Years later, when I was called into ministry, my loving and prayerful mother would share how I was an answer to her many years of “send one of my boys” prayers. The enemy had tried to hinder that prayer in many ways, including kidnapping, sickness, and many other personal battles. But the Lord preserved my life and allowed me to hear his voice calling me and be sent out.
The voice of the Lord has not stopped calling servant leaders in different areas of ministry to go and serve him. The harvest is ripe but the workers are few. Consider: Is the Lord calling you today to serve him in some aspect of ministry? If so, like Isaiah, may you be willing and obedient to answer boldly with “Here am I. Send me!”
Be available and willing to go for the Lord.
