My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. (Ps. 119:81)

I began falling in love with Scripture in college, where I majored in biblical studies. That love was solidified when I began teaching a group of girls in our youth group on Sunday mornings. For over a year, we would meet and dig into God’s Word together. They asked questions, and we found the answers in the pages of the Bible. It lit a fire within me and reminded me of the power of the living Word of God.

It was in that season of teaching those young ladies that my hope became anchored in God’s Word. Since then, I’ve encountered many ups and downs in my life, seasons that were difficult and heavy, but the one place I have consistently found hope is in Scripture.

The world tells us to put our hope in many other things—ourselves, our jobs, financial security, things we can control—but I have found that there is no better, more consistent, more trustworthy place to put my hope than in God’s Word. His promises are true, and he is faithful. When my world is spinning, his Word stills me. When anxiety overwhelms me, his Word brings me peace. When my insecurities try to keep me from being obedient, his Word gives me courage. Truly, there is no better place to put our hope than in his Word.

Put your hope in God’s Word today.
