May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you. (Ps. 33:22)

The women who went to Jesus’ tomb first must have been hopeful. Was Jesus right? Did he really rise from death to life on the third day as he predicted? Did hope swell deep within their bodies and minds when they saw that the stone had been rolled away? Imagine their joy when they realized Jesus had kept his promise.

Kings hope in the strength and size of their armies. They get their kicks out of fast horses. Kings love to place their trust in their power, real or perceived. These things offer temporary hope, but only God’s unfailing love will hold the strength, position, provision, and power forever.

The children of the Lord are to hope in his unfailing love. We are to hope in his deliverance. We can place our hope that the God of heaven will provide for all our needs according to his riches in glory. He is our helper. He is our protection. He guides us through the storms of life to safety. He redeems our pain. He alone forgives and thereby helps us to do the same. He also celebrates with us when there is a party to be enjoyed.

This Easter, run to him. Place your hope in him. May his unfailing love be with you every step of your journey with him.

Rejoice that love’s redeeming work is done!
