Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her. (Ruth 1:14)

Jesus paid the ultimate price when he yielded to God’s plan of redemption for mankind, which included a cross for him. Each time I think of his sacrifice for me, I am filled with gratitude and I cannot imagine not having him in my life.

The assurance that comes from my dependence upon the Lord is equal to no other. When I get to a crossroad in my life and am unsure of what my next step should be, it is he who I call upon and it is his wisdom that I seek. His Word is my guide, my light, and my source for advice.

One of the toughest decisions I ever had to make was called divorce, and I waited a decade before I acquired the courage and strength to file for it. I had already been living alone for some time, but the pain of the abandonment was tough to bear. It was God’s Word, in Isaiah 54:5–8, that brought comfort for my pain.

In the sorrow shared by Naomi and her daughters-in-law, they found comfort in one another and trusted the Lord together. Their loss was great, but their recognition of who God was to them plus their obedience to his Word were key ingredients to bring about deliverance and provision in the new chapter of their lives.

Let go of fear and trust in God’s power to deliver you.
