Indiana Wesleyan University has received a $3 million-dollar grant from the Lilly Endowment. The Accelerate Indiana grant is aimed at helping Indiana colleges and universities pursue activities that improve the job prospects of college graduates in the state.

IWU will utilize the grant to launch these new initiatives that prepare its students for the workforce while helping young Indiana businesses succeed:

● Employer University, a series of workshops for new start-up businesses and organizations

● A week-long “Indiana Expo” celebrating Indiana venues and employment opportunities as well as a job fair held on the IWU campus every spring (March 16-20, 2015)

● $600,000 in paid student internships for new start-up businesses and organizations that are 5 years or younger – applications being taken by employers and students beginning July 1, 2014 – August 1, 2014

● The launch of an Entrepreneurship Certificate program for all majors at IWU

This grant represents collaboration by significant internal and external entities working together to partner Indiana employers with current students and graduates.

According to Carol Brown, director of career development, “Indiana Wesleyan University students will be provided with opportunities to connect directly with employers in their discipline and gain more exposure to all that Indiana has to offer.”
