Be encouraged in heart and united in love . . . so that [you] may . . . know the mystery of God, namely, Christ. (Col. 2:2)

THE CLOWNFISH is the sea anemone’s napkin. It cleans the anemone’s mouth in exchange for protection from predators. The anemone covers the clownfish with mucus to keep it safe from the stings of its tentacles. If predators come too near the clownfish, the anemone stings them. In this manner, the clownfish and the anemone have each other’s backs.

One of the best ways to get to know God’s heart is through His people. They are people who celebrate others’ blessings and hold others through heartaches. They are slow to lose patience and quick to forgive faults. They consider the impact of a painful past on behavior, and strive to see others through God’s eyes. Being full of compassion, they know how to touch God’s throne with the needs of others. They share faith and encouragement with others.

When we long to know God’s heart, we can spend time with His people. They show us how to apply His Word and how to have each other’s backs.

If you’re seeking understanding, get connected with God’s people.
